The event will consist of a goodwill taikai, demonstrations and a dinner to finish.
Details are as follows:
- Date: Saturday 30th July 2022
- Registrations open at 11:00am; Opening ceremony is at 12:00pm
- Location: West Stadium, Monash Sport, Clayton Campus, 42 Scenic Boulevard, Monash University, VIC 3800
The taikai will be in a Tozai-Taiko (East vs West) style. Each team will consist of kendoka of all ages and grades! The taikai will be organised such that competitors of similar ages and grades will compete against each other. There will also be a Nihon Kendo Kata demonstration and a Bokuto ni yoru Kendo Kihon Keiko ho demonstration. Following the event, there will be a dinner at Monash Sport.
If you are interested in competing, attending the dinner or just spectating, please go to our Eventbrite page to register. It is completely free to register for and attend the entire event. There is no limit on the number of competitors per club however, this will be dependent upon final registration numbers as we have limited time available. That being said, we will definitely try our best to accommodate everyone.
If you are currently practicing kendo and are 3rd Dan and above, we would really appreciate it if you would consider being a Shinpan for the taikai. If you are willing and able to do so, please also register through the Eventbrite page.
Please note that registrations close at 11:59pm on 30th June 2022.
Closer to the event we will publish a schedule for the event and the draw for the taikai. Please feel free to forward this invite to anyone who may be interested in attending. If you have any questions, please email us at monashkendo@gmail.com
We look forward to seeing you at our celebration!
